Privacy
Your captures start on your device.
This overview explains how StepShot handles local work and optional cloud sharing.
Local Guides and Captures
Guides, capture metadata, screenshots and preferences created for local use are stored on your PC. Local editing does not require a StepShot account, and StepShot does not automatically upload local screenshots.
Optional cloud Share
When you explicitly choose Publish or Update Published Version, StepShot sends the selected Guide data and the screenshots required by that Guide to the StepShot cloud service. A public, read-only URL is then created. Anyone with that URL may be able to view its content.
Revoking a link
Choosing Unpublish asks the cloud service to revoke the public link and remove its published Guide data. Your local Guide remains on your device.
Operational data
The cloud service may process basic request and server log data such as timestamps, request paths, response status, network address and error details for security, reliability and diagnostics. Logs are not intended to contain screenshot image contents.
Changes and safety
Cloud behavior, retention and this notice may change. Review captures for passwords or sensitive information before sharing.
